Despite what you might have heard, hummus is ridiculously easy to make. Ignore what the internet tells you about cooking the chickpeas first, throw everything in a blender, whizz it up and adjust the ingredients as required

  • 1 can chickpeas
  • 2 Tbsp tahini
  • 1 Tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 Tbsp cumin
  • Juice of one lemon
  • Cold water
  • Salt and pepper to taste

  1. Add everything into the blender
  2. Pour in a small amount of cold water
  3. Blend up and add more water until you have nailed a thick consistency
  4. Taste and add extra lemon, garlic, tahini, salt and/or pepper if required
  5. Serve by drizzling olive oil into the centre and dropping in some whole chickpeas
